SIA Door Supervisor
If you wish to pursue a career as a Door Supervisor in the UK you will need a licence to practice issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
To enable you to apply for a licence you must compete an approved Door Supervisor’s training course in order to obtain the qualifications required. The BIIAB Level 2 Award in Door Supervision is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those who wish to work in the industry.
Endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual the qualification is awarded to learners who are required to successfully complete four modules.
The following four modules are covered in the course
- Working in the Private Security Industry
- Working as a Door Supervisor
- Conflict management for the Private Security Industry
- Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
Support materials available:
To assist you during the course you will be provided with a course workbook which will include 3 of the required modules. The 4th module (physical intervention) is delivered on the 4th day.
How is it assessed?
Working in the Private Security Industry, Working as a Door supervisor and conflict management for the Private Security Industry are assessed by multiple choice examinations.
Physical Intervention skills for the Private Security Industry is assessed by practical assessment through the training.
The answers to all questions will be found in the course handbook. All the examination papers are produced from a central question bank. These papers are independently marked by BIIAB.
This qualification which is worth 4 credits at Level 2, follow the SIA’s new specification and the unit structure reduces overlap between subject area’s making it easier for learners to gain qualifications for additional sectors (CCTV, Security Guarding etc ) as they will only need to sit the additional units.
